Health Department Closings Due to Inclement Weather

February 12 update

All Mississippi state agencies, including the State Department of Health, will be closed today, February 12, due to winter weather conditions.

County health offices in many areas of the state will be closed. Call before visiting your local health department, home health, or WIC office.


February 11

The Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH) announces that the following county health department sites – including regional home health offices and Women, Infants and Children Supplemental Food and Nutrition Education Program (WIC) warehouses – will be closed Friday due to inclement weather:

Central Mississippi

  • Simpson
  • Claiborne
  • Copiah

East Mississippi

  • Clarke
  • Jasper
  • Lauderdale
  • Newton
  • Scott
  • Smith

Southeast Mississippi

  • Covington
  • Forrest
  • Greene
  • Jones
  • Jefferson Davis
  • Marion
  • Lamar
  • Perry
  • Wayne

Southwest Mississippi

  • Adams
  • Amite
  • Franklin
  • Jefferson
  • Lawrence
  • Lincoln
  • Pike
  • Walthall
  • Wilkinson

Coastal Mississippi

  • George
  • Pearl River
  • Stone

“Fast Lane” senior citizen flu clinics planned for Friday in these counties may also be cancelled.

As weather conditions develop, more county health departments may also close. MSDH advises calling before visiting any health department location while inclement weather persists.
