Background
Before coming to MSDH, Dr. Richardson was Director of the Oral Health Program at the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals, and served as Assistant Professor at the LSU Health Sciences Center School of Dentistry. During her administration in Louisiana she developed policy in community water fluoridation, worked to improve administration of dental Medicaid services for pregnant women, and increased school-based prevention program efforts. In 1994, she received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Meharry Medical College School of Dentistry in Nashville, TN, and a Master's degree in Public Health from the University of Rochester in Rochester, NY. Dr. Richardson is a scholar of the National Public Health Leadership Institute, and is a past Health Services Research Fellow with the Agency of Health Care Research and Quality (AHRQ) and the CDC.
