Mississippi requires that EMT candidates demonstrate their knowledge of emergency medicine with the NREMT (National Registry) Exam.

The Mississippi Bureau of EMS regulates and enforces all rules associated with Emergency Medical Care and Transport of Mississippi's sick and injured. The Bureau responsible for licenses, reviewing course and curriculum materials, complaint investigations as well as technical assistance to hospitals, EMT candidates and others interested in the emergency care system in Mississippi.

Mississippi accepts the NREMT (National Registry) Exam as proof that the EMT candidate has the appropriate levels of knowledge with regard to emergency medicine.
