The Mississippi CISM Program is made up of three regional CISM teams. These teams are headed by a Regional Director and composed of volunteers from multiple community agencies such as community support services, educational support services, clergy, public safety services, emergency services, and mental health services. It is the function of the Teams to provide wrap-a-round services in the form of proactive education, immediate crisis assessment and intervention, intervention follow-up services, psychological and referral services, and community support services, not to replace on-going professional counseling.

All team members will maintain confidentiality, and respect the feelings and cultural differences of all individuals involved in providing and/or receiving services.

Team membership is open to residents of Mississippi who agree to make a commitment to volunteer their time, energy, and talents by serving their community. Members are mental health professionals, mental health practitioners, social workers, educational support personnel, community support service providers, emergency responders, public safety service providers, nurses, clergy, and retired individuals.

Team responsibilities and duties include the following:

• Take an active role in debriefings.
• Request Mental Health assistance when their training and resources are exceeded.
• Assist in providing follow-up services.
• Remain informed of the program's operating policies and procedures.
• Assist the Team in Crisis Response related projects.
• Function only within the limits of their training.
• Maintain strict confidentiality regarding Mississippi CISM debriefings, including topics discussed and personnel involved.
• Attend in-service trainings.
