Mississippi Partnership for Comprehensive Cancer Control Coalition is a group of individuals and organizations joining together to make a difference in the lives of Mississippians.

Through this collaborative effort, the coalition has developed a comprehensive cancer control plan to reduce cancer incidence, morbidity and mortality in the state of Mississippi. As a member of the coalition, we invite you to participate in one of our workgroups to implement the state comprehensive cancer control plan.

The duties of each workgroup shall be:

  • Review data and statistics pertaining each workgroup
  • Identify workgroup priorities for implementing the state cancer control plan goals and objectives
  • Evaluate the workgroup implementation progress
  • Set up activities to meet the goals and objectives

Workgroups

Prevention Workgroup

Address known risk factors for cancer, identify proven prevention strategies, and promote cancer education..

Early Detection Workgroup

Review cancer screening guidelines and issues; identify strategies toward increasing screening rates in Mississippi.

Diagnosis & Treatment Workgroup

Discuss quality care, treatment modalities issues and barriers to treatment. Promote participation in clinical trials.

Survivorship and Quality of Life Workgroup

Address psychosocial issues of living with cancer and provide support resources. Discuss issues such as the spiritual, legal, financial and psychosocial effects of preparing for and coping with loss of life.

Surveillance Workgroup

Provide current cancer surveillance methods and data support in Mississippi; determine needs and strategies for improvement.
