Established in November, 1994, the Mississippi Statewide Immunization Coalition (MSIC) is an organization of professionals and citizens, throughout the state, dedicated to the immunization of Mississippi's children, adolescents, and adults. The goals of the coalition are to ensure 90% of Mississippi children, two years of age and younger, are completely immunized with 4 DTaP, 3 polio, 3 Hib, 3 Hepatitis B and 2 MMR by the year 2000 and the age-appropriate immunization of all other children, adolescents, and adults.
Officers of MSIC consist of a President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer. There are approximately 120 members in the statewide coalition. There is a 20 member Steering Committee including the three officers, which monitors three subcommittees. These subcommittees are assessment, service delivery, and information/education. Each subcommittee is responsible for developing and implementing action steps to meet or exceed the coalition objectives.
On 10/14/99, the Mississippi Statewide Immunization Coalition became a separate non-profit entity known as MSIC, Inc. On April 19, 2000 we received approval from the IRS as being exempt from federal income tax under section 501 (C) (3). There is no membership fee and all meetings are open to all interested parties and individuals. Please contact Stephanie Young at (601) 576-7751 or 1-800-634-9258 for information about the coalition or other IAP related activities.
