Dr. Brown has participated in extensive community development activity since 1988. She founded the Mississippi Health Awareness Project, a community-based tax-exempt organization to address HIV, Gang and Violence prevention in Grenada, MS. As Health Officer she started a three county Violence Prevention Program that resulted in the establishment of the first Boys and Girls Club in the District. In 1998 she developed the Safe at Home program, a home maternity case management program for nom-Medicaid patients in four Delta counties under the Healthy Start Initiative.
